Palmyra, NY on Friday (June 29, 2012)

Nathan: his favorite part of the Sacred Grove was trying out many of the benches as we walked past:)  He seemed to 'get' that it wasn't a place to be loud and running around, though.

Joseph:  Hill Cumorah, then rolling down the grassy side again and again (towards the seats for the pageant)

Caleb:  Hill Cumorah was fun (rolling down the grass where the pageant is)

Beth:  I liked the Sacred Grove and rolling down Hill Cumorah

Jacob:  Sacred Grove was the best

Michael:  Sacred Grove was the best

Rebekah:  I liked the peace and beauty of the sacred grove, and the beautiful stained glass in the temple. I thought it was cool that you could see the temple from the Joseph Smith home- and I touched the spindle of a spinning wheel there, and didn’t die. (I had to. I’m a princess, remember?). And I really enjoyed rolling down the Hill Cumorah- that is one steep hill. You don’t so much roll as tumble/fly. And then you can slide really well on it too. Plus, you know, it was where the plates were buried. That’s cool too.

Gail:  Highlight had to be the Sacred Grove—so peaceful and sacred of a feeling, even with the kidsJ  Also very interesting to hear about and see the places where Joseph hid the plates.  And in the Grandin print shop, the kids got to fold their own ‘proof’ sheet of the first run of the Book of Mormon, which was a great ‘souvenir.’  We walked around the Palmyra temple Thursday night, and the lights coming through the tree-themed stained glass windows were beautiful!  (OK, the whole temple was beautiful, too:)

A likely place on the bank of the Susquehanna River, just behind Joseph and Emma's home site
(wonderful flat rocks for skipping, too:)
