Nathan: LOVES all things temples, so loved going through the Kirtland temple, and the smaller-size model in the visitor center.
Daniel: loved the
HUGE rock at the Johnson Farm (he and Nathan played on it during most of the
tour– too long of a day sightseeing, and Nathan woke up from a nap grumpy:P)
Joseph: the ashery
was not very interesting
Caleb: Johnson Farm
because of the big rock to play on outside:P
Jacob: touring the
Kirtland Temple
Michael: the temple
was the best part
Rebekah: The temple
was beautiful, and I liked getting to go in and hear the stories about its
dedication, and looking through a replica of the original hymnbook, finding
hymns I know and seeing what words or verses have changed. I also loved the
Johnson farm, and getting to stand on the step where Joseph preached his sermon
the day after being tarred and feathered, because that act of forgiveness and
dedication to the gospel is one of the things I really admire about Joseph
Smith.

Gail: The Newel K Whitney store, ashery and sawmill were interesting, but I loved the tour of the Kirtland temple. Even their visitor’s center was interesting, and mostly was just about history common to both churches. Our guide was very informative, and even knew to quit talking when we could feel the spirit as we were talking about sacred things that happened there. I loved seeing and hearing about all the great architecture, and well-thought-out placement of curtains, etc, for the temple and assembly rooms, but there was definitely a better spirit at our visitor’s center down the road. Nathan and Daniel were much better behaved there!

Kurt was quite interesting in the sawmill replica (working--President Hinckley got to cut logs on it!) |
