We spent the weekend in Nauvoo (6/22-6/25/12) in a log cabin
Nathan: loved the wagon ride, and petting the horses afterwards. He loved the pioneer games area.
Daniel: liked Carthage jail, and staying in the log cabin. LOVED the pioneer games and dress up area (wants his own pioneer clothes, including suspenders, hat, vest, and 'shirt that fits' for his birthday:P), and getting our own brick at the brickyard.
Joseph: liked the bakery (getting a little gingerbread cookie:), liked staying in the log cabin (he and Caleb were on the bed in the loft every night:),
Caleb: liked petting the horses after the wagon ride tour, liked the (short) bakery tour because we got a cookie, liked playing pioneer games (especially this one with the hoop and sticks).
Beth: liked wagon ride (and petting the horses Max and King afterwards), and doing the pioneer games was fun (she became quite proficient on the stilts and the 'pioneer yoyo,' but refused to put on the dress-up clothes:)
Jacob:
Michael:
Rebekah:
Gail: Loved staying in the log cabin--enough beds for everyone except one. Loved having a real kitchen, so food on Sunday was not a problem, and much cheaper to cook our own. It cost about the same as two hotel rooms, and worked lots better for us. Loved the wagon ride past many sites, and loved walking down Parley Street Sunday night, despite all the may flies. The musical at the visitor's center Saturday afternoon was amazingly well-done (I'd worried the younger kids would get bored, but 'no way!') All the historical sites were so well done, with all the missionaries bringing some spiritual lesson into each mundane thing! Nauvoo temple was amazing, and Carthage on Sunday after church was a great experience. Learned a lot about the details of what happened when and where, and it was a beautiful drive and location.
